Debbie Soloman - Bassetlaw
business owner for 20+ years & working mum

Debbie Soloman

Before April this year I had never been involved in politics.

I joined the Brexit Party because I am frustrated at the lies and backsliding on delivering Brexit.

I am standing for election because I want to make a difference, fight for our democracy and deliver the independence our people voted for.

Why I am standing up for brexit and bassetlaw

About Me

I was born and raised in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.  At 18 I was the first member of my family every to go to university, achieving a good first degree and a Masters degree from Edinburgh University.  So I have lived in Wales, England & Scotland.

I then settled in Nottinghamshire nearly 25 years ago.

I’m a business woman and my husband and I have owned our own business for over 20 years.

We run a GIS consultancy and training company and provide services to a range of organisations in multiple sectors including local government, health, nature & conservation, marine management, & agriculture.  We also provide training globally including to organisations in Canada, the USA and Australia. From the perspective of a small business owner- Brexit will only increase these global opportunities and not diminish them!

I know the challenges of running a business, and small business are the backbone of the UK economy. And despite what the mainstream media will tell you- we are not all anti Brexit! Running a business requires a varied skill set – planning, organisation, communication and patience.  All of which are essential for not only being a PPC but an MP.

The training side of our business has brought me into contact with thousands of people from all across the UK.  Listening to individual requirements and being able to hone in on the nub of an issue is a real skill.  Responding to need, strategically planning and communicating clearly are all essential if we are to change politics for good.

As a Mum to 3 wonderful children I also understand the difficulty of balancing work and family life.  The same worries that other people face.  Finding good affordable child care so I can go back to work, can I get my child a doctors appointment in a reasonable timeframe, dealing with bullying issues that are so bad you have to move your child to a different school.

So I understand the real issues and stresses and strains that everyday people face.  I live in the real world and not in a detached Westminster bubble.

I want to make a difference and I think I’m pretty good at getting things done.  That’s why I want to be an MP for the Brexit Party so that I can use my skills and determination to work for this country and get it back on its feet.
